hello all!

back here on livejournal...it's been a long time! & i will try and catch up with friends as best as i can.

exciting news for those who haven't heard, my belly is big with baby! due in july. july, july! cannot wait to meet the sweet little thing, whatever it may be, boy, girl, monkey, squirrel.

just finished reading "Travels with Charley in Search of America" ..every time i read a steinbeck i always say it's my new favorite. it's my new favorite!

two of the many saved passages,

I think today if we forbade our illiterate children to touch the wonderful things of our literature, perhaps they might steal them and find secret joy.
-
on "protection" (the beginning of the "plastic revolution" in america)
I remember an old Arab in North Africa, a man whose hands had never felt water. He gave me mint tea in a glass so coated with use that it was opaque, but he handed me companionship, and the tea was wonderful because of it. And without any protection my teeth didn't fall out, nor did running sores develop. I began to formulate a new law describing the relationship of protection to despondency. A sad soul can kill you quicker, far quicker, than a germ.
-

also just read "Being There" by jerzy kosinski. heart achingly sweet and beautiful, read it please and see the film by hal ashbey, script by kosinski!
